Developed by the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (www.caf-fca.org).  Explores the Apprenticeship route to skilled trades' careers across Canada through a searchable database with information on all Apprenticeship careers, labour force supply and demands.

Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (www.caf-fca.org) National organization promoting apprenticeship training and education systems; providing reports and related information for students/parents/instructors and employers.

Career Cruising (www.careercruising.com) Online career guidance and planning system. Subscription required for access- instructors

Careers in Construction (www.careersinconstruction.ca) Developed by The Construction Sector Council to provide information on range of careers in Canada's construction industry (including HVACR) and assist students in choosing a career path

Made with the Trades (http://madewiththetrades.com) Career Information about the Unionized Construction Sector in Ontario, Canada developed by the Ontario Construction Secretariat.

Skilled Trades Careers (www.careersintrades.ca) Developed by the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum, a website where students/parents/instructors/employers will find information about careers in skilled trades (including those in HVACR).

Skills Canada (www.skillscanada.com/) Olympic game styled competitions for Canadian youth involved in trades and technology occupations. Mandate to encourage and promote technological and skilled trades as first choice career option.

Trade Secrets (www.tradesecrets.gov.ab.ca/) Government of Alberta website promoting and exploring trade careers.

HVACR Apprenticeship Program (www.hvacr.ca) The Apprentice Intake Committee will accept applications on this site for the first year Apprenticeship Program each year from December 1 to February 28. Only the most qualified candidates are selected for the program and are made available for hire to ORAC, UA Local 787 contractors.

CIPH Career Program (ciph.com/en/CareerTap) Canada's plumbing and hydronic (hot water) heating industry is meeting the environmental challenges of tomorrow with real-world solutions today with their career site which offers information about the career opportunities available in Canada's plumbing industry.

EDUCATION

CanLearn (www.canlearn.ca). This site was developed by the Department of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada in collaboration with provincial and territorial governments.

College and University Search -(www.canlearn.ca). Section of the CanLearn site that invites the visitor to explore the post-secondary education options Canada has to offer in the CEGEPs, Colleges and Universities Search tool.

Program Search - (www.canlearn.ca)The place on the CanLearn site to obtain detailed profiles, requirements, application and admission information for programs of study at Canadian CEGEPs, colleges and universities.

Provincial and Territorial Ministries and Departments of Education - Those responsible for post-secondary and trades training. A list of contacts is available here (Apprenticeship and Training Information Provincial and Territorial Departments and Contacts).

Scholarship Search ( www.studentawards.com) This is a  service provided in collaboration with Studentawards.com: the leading free Canadian scholarship search service devoted to helping high school, college and university students find information on scholarships, bursaries, grants, and other forms of financial assistance available from the private sector and not-for-profit organizations.

INDUSTRY AND TRADE ORGANIZATIONS AND ASSOCIATIONS

B.C. Sustainable Energy Association supports and promotes careers in sustainable energy including a guide to national sustainable energy training through their Clean Energy Classrooms initiative (www.bcsea.org).

Canadian Construction Women (www.constructionwomen.org )- website with resources and links for women interested in the construction trades.          

Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH) (www.ciph.com/) is a not-for-profit trade association representing the interests of companies that manufacture, sell and distribute plumbing, hydronic heating, PVF and Waterworks products and services.

Canadian Home Builders Association (CHBA) (www.chba.ca) represents those working in Canada's residential home building and renovation industry (including those in the HVACR sector).

Engineers Canada (www.engineerscanada.ca) is the national organization regulating, representing and providing information to professional engineers.

Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) (http://www.hrai.ca) is a national trade association representing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) manufacturers, wholesalers and contractors and provides information to consumers. Career Connections Job Board gives insight into current industry positions.

HVACR Heritage Centre Canada (www.hvacrheritagecentre.ca ) documents and explores how HVACR technologies changed 20th century lives and society. Interactive games, virtual museum and the story of refrigeration.

Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada (MCAC) (www.mcac.ca) is a national trade association serving mechanical contractors engaged in plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, controls systems, medical gases, welding, and fire suppression, primarily within the industrial, commercial and institutional sectors.

Ontario College of Trades (www.collegeoftrades.ca/ ) – First self-regulated body in Canada established by the trades for the trades.

Refrigeration Service Engineers Society Canada (RSES) (www.rsescanada.com) provides training and education for professional HVACR technicians and contractors.

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) (www.ashrae.org) has an international membership base and advances the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world.
