Tradespersons who achieve a Red Seal endorsement are qualified to work in multiple provinces & territories across Canada.
If your province/territory supports a Red Seal endorsement you may either write an additional exam or in the case of some provinces, your Certificate of Qualification exam also doubles as the Red Seal exam. To be a Red Seal trade, the trade must be designated for apprenticeship in at least five Canadian provinces/territories. This means that not all trades are Red Seal in every province/territory. For example, a gasfitter is not an apprenticeship in Ontario and gasfitter tickets issued in that province do not carry an Red Seal endorsement.
Below is a list of provinces/territories that recognize the Red Seal endorsement for gasfitter and refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic. Note that while Gasfitter carries a Red Seal endorsement in most regions across Canada, that endorsement is currently NOT recognized in Ontario and Saskatchewan.
